Celebrating an RCSA Student-turned-Teacher for Teacher Appreciation Week

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and we have been showering our teachers with love here at RCSA lately, especially as we wrap up this school year! We admire all of our teachers, but there is one in particular who deserves a special acknowledgement: Moriah Taylor, a former RCSA student who came back to teach!

Ms. Taylor is a member of RCSA’s Class of 2015. Continuing her studies at the University of Florida, she graduated in 2019 with her Bachelor’s degree in Marine Sciences! Initially, Ms. Taylor planned to pursue a career in research, but she fell in love with another career path after she became a substitute teacher. She has been with RCSA as a full-time teacher ever since. Ms. Taylor hopes to eventually continue her education and receive her Master’s degree in Coastal and Environmental Sciences, aiming to teach college students one day!

Currently, Ms. Taylor teaches ninth-grade Biology and AP Biology, and she is also a coach for Science Olympiad. “I’ve always loved science and been interested in teaching it,” said Ms. Taylor. “I’m back here because all the administration has been welcoming and this is such a family environment.”

Everyone looks up to Ms. Taylor, especially her students, who have been inspired by her successful career in STEM and as a young female educator. “Moriah is an extraordinary teacher,” Sel Buyuksarac, RCSA’s Co-Founder and Chief of Public Affairs, said. “It’s great to see the passion she has to impact students who are in the same place she once was. She is an amazing addition to the team.”
