The American Heart Association, with support from the Jacksonville Jaguars, visit RCSA Southeast to promote childhood physical activity

The American Heart Association, a global force for longer, healthier lives, partnered with the Jacksonville Jaguars to generously provide an assortment of sports balls to our students at RCSA Southeast. We were grateful to accept this resource building donation and embrace the promotion of physical activity and active play among young people.

Jaxson deVille, accompanied by several enthusiastic ROAR cheerleaders, were on-hand to deliver the donation and engage with the students. This was planned alongside their “Jags Dress Down Day”, to show their support of our hometown team and this special event.

The American Heart Association recommends that children are physically active at least 60 minutes each day to help prevent heart disease and stroke. Less than 25% of children ages 6 to 17 participate in the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity and less than 1% of children have ideal diets. The American Heart Association wants to help change those statistics and encourage physical activity and exercise in children. Participation in sports also builds self-esteem, improves social skills and motivates children to excel academically. For more information, visit www.heart.org/kids.
