3 RCSA Essay Contest Winners!

Each year, the Florida Commission on the Status of Women sponsor the Florida Women History Contests – Elementary students submit art, Middle school students submit an essay and high school students submit a video, which serves to honor and recount stories of our female leaders’ talents, sacrifices, and commitments and inspires today’s generations. It also lends the learning experience of students seeing themselves as leaders seeking a way to improve the lives of women today and going forward.

The Commission is a nonpartisan board focused on raising awareness of the needs of women and girls in Florida and celebrating women who have had success and contributed to bettering the lives of women, and as a result, all Floridians.

In celebration of 50 years since Title IX passed, this year’s prompt was “Who is your favorite female athlete or sports pioneer and why do they inspire you?”

Middle school students were challenged to write a 250 – 500 word essay about an athletic Superstar. They Commission received many essays submitted by students across the state and each essay was carefully viewed and critiqued. Two winners are selected for each grade and we are thrilled to congratulate 3 of our own RCSA students!
