RCSA MHS STUDENT WINS INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

Every fall and spring, Engineer For The Week hosts a competition where students research a social or environmental issue that is important to them and create a video game using Scratch.com that can educate others about the issue. Last May, 7th and 8th-grade students in Mrs. Wallace’s Research class at RCSA Middle-High worked hard to learn block-coding to create their video games and help others learn about important issues that face our world and submitted their projects to this competition. Hundreds of students from all over the world submit projects to this organization and the top 10 are chosen. This August, one of RCSA’s 8th graders, Alex Jones, was chosen as a winner for his game “Life Below Water” which educates others on the dangers of water pollution. He will be recognized on EFTW’s website and EFTW will donate $1000 on behalf of Alex to the charity of his choice.
