RCSA Innovation’s Peace Jam Club is working to amplify the voices of the young in Puerto Rico.

By creating a documentary, they will keep the conversation about the devastation in Puerto Rico alive and in the minds of leaders and the community.

The Peace Jam Club is actively fundraising for a trip to Puerto Rico to visit their partner school. They will create a documentary about the long term effects of the hurricane on school aged children as well as the political climate of Puerto Rico. They met with the students via Skype, learning about the lack of educational opportunities available.

Students in the Peace Jam club have the goal to become leaders of social justice, committed to making positive change in themselves, their communities and the world.

After hearing Nobel Peace Prize Winner Kailash Satyarthi speak at a Peace Jam conference this Spring, these students are motivated to be a force for positive change. Students were outraged to learn about the closed schools in Puerto Rico because of bureaucratic complications. They understand the dire circumstances of students missing out on educational opportunity and wish to shed light on this issue.

Those wishing to contribute to the fund to send RCSA students to Puerto Rico can do so here: https://www.gofundme.com/student-voices-puerto-rico.

A tax-deductible donation will assist with:

– Travel expenses (airfare, vans)
– Lodging expenses
– Food
– Camera equipment (battery packs, SD cards, SD readers)

Thanks to all who have supported these brave, determined students both in Jacksonville and Puerto Rico.
