Wednesday, January 25th was a memorable day at RCSAES. As part of our Literacy through History initiative, Jacksonville’s First Lady, Mrs. Molly Curry, read to our students about important leaders in history that made paramount advances in science.
First Lady Curry read, The Tree Lady, by Joseph Hopkins, to our primary students about Kate Session, an American botanist, who is known as the “Mother of Balboa Park” because of her work in San Diego. She then read to our intermediate students, Marie Curie: Prize-Winning Scientist, by Lori Mortensen, which is about the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize for Physics.
RCSA Elementary is incredibly grateful to have the First Lady of Jacksonville help us spread the message of the importance of history and the people that helped shape it. Thank you, First Lady Curry!
